Digital Evidence requirements change rapidly, as quickly as technology develops. Many agencies face challenges in developing solutions to the problems posed by new technologies. Since digital evidence research is so poorly supported by funding bodies, we can achieve more by working together and pooling resources and expertise.
The Digital Evidence Virtual Centre of Excellence was established as a Community Interest Company (CIC) in 2015 to act as a co-ordinating and supporting body. The aim is to bring digital evidence practitioners, researchers, educators and users together to form a community which could work on relevant projects. Rather than relying on local contacts, DEVCE CIC can provide access to teams with the right mix of skills to address particular problems quickly and effectively.
We also provide represenation to BSI and ISO on digital evidence matters..
The centre offers two main types of service :
rapid R&D to produce new solutions
peer-review of in-house developments to provide assurance that solutions are fit for purpose.
And will provide additional resources to academia and the wider community in the form of project challenges, project co-ordination, educational resources and regular updates on what our members and supporters are doing.
DEVCE is a UK-based community interest company and aims to become self-sufficient to allow its services to be offered free of charge. Initially, however, in order to develop sufficient resources to allow it to start to generate income, it mayuse a subscription-based model and crowdfunding to cover operating costs. At the moment, we are not accepting applications for (full) Membership from outside the UK, but welcome Associate Members from all over the world.
DEVCE is a trading style of the Digital Evidence Centre of Excellence C.I.C, registered in England & Wales No. 9461258
